We will meet in the NCTD office for lunch and a brief presentation and will then board the SPRINTER for a tour of the project. The SPRINTER is one of the largest public works projects this region has seen. The line runs 22 miles along the Highway 78 corridor, effortlessly transporting passengers to work, school, shopping centers and other activities. The SPRINTER will reduce traffic by eliminating hundreds of cars, and will offer North San Diego County residents a green alternative. Southern California International Gateway (SCIG) Update
SCIG is to be located between the Terminal Island Freeway, Sepulveda Boulevard and Pacific Coast Highway in a heavily industrialized area with direct access to the Alameda Corridor. SCIG will allow cargo to be loaded onto rail lines much closer to the port complex, traveling less than a mile by rail through a highly industrialized area to the Alameda Corridor. This would help accommodate port growth, while eliminating millions of truck miles annually from the 710 freeway.
